Previously announced to be launched on August 8th, Gameloft’s new title Asphalt 8: Airborne was for some reason delayed without confirmation of another release date.

However today we have one, with the developer confirming that the game will hit the Google Play Store on August 22nd.

Originally unveiled at Google’s Nexus 7 and Android 4.3 event in San Francisco, the game has been optimised for the new 3D graphics standard to be included in Android 4.3, called OpenGL ES 3.0, and includes 180 events, 47 licensed cars and social integration.

To make up for the delay Gameloft have today launched a contest to giveaway one pre-launch code to a lucky winner, to enter all you have to do is subscribe to their YouTube channel and fill out a form on their website, so it’s probably worth giving it a go.
