Astell & Kern make a range of high-resolution audio products and this week they unveiled one more.

Called the Kann, it is a particularly interesting device because not only does it include great hi-res audio features but it is also pretty cheap when compared to the competition.

The new player supports playback of up to 32-bit/384kHz high-resolution audio files, with support for up to DSD256 and 64GB of storage built right in.

It also has a full-size SD card slot, along with a microSD card slot that allows you to expand that storage by up to a further 576GB.

There’s also a massive 6,200mAh battery inside which can be charged via the USB Type-C port, which is also used for syncing the device.

To top that off, it has a headphone amplifier built-in with support for 3.5mm unbalanced and 2.5mm balanced audio output.

And that’s still not all.

The Kann also comes with Wi-Fi support for wireless streaming from services like Tidal and for over-the-air updates, as well as DLNA support for streaming files from a server.

For all that you might expect a pretty hefty price tag, but that would be false.

The Astell & Kern Kann will be available in Astro Silver from the end of April or in Eos Blue from late May for just £899 in the UK or $999 in the US, which is awesome considering the competition.
