ASUS have just unveiled the next generation PadFone that’s thinner, lighter and faster with an all new design and quad-core processor, the PadFone 2 is probably one of the best phablets around.

The phone part of the PadFone 2 is a fully featured 4.7 Android smartphone, which can be docked into the PadFone station to create a fully featured 10.1 Android tablet, both of which have been designed to work seamlessly with each other.

The biggest difference between the new PadFone and the old one is the new-found weight loss, which has led to the new version weighing just 649 grams, alongside which ASUS have also reduced it’s thickness, now measuring just 9mm at its thinnest point.

Theres also a new battery which allows the PadFone 2 to last up to 36 hours on a single charge thanks to the new 2140mAh capacity.

Probably the biggest feature however is the new 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor with 2GBs of RAM that’s perfect for most tasks.

The smartphone part of the PadFone 2 also includes a new 4.7 inch 1280 x 720 HD Super IPS+ display with scratch resistant Corning Fit Glass, around the back however is an incredible 13 megapixel camera that is capable of capturing 100 shots per second whilst in burst mode, alongside which it can also simultaneously record 1080p HD video at 30fps or 720p HD video at 60fps.

The ASUS PadFone 2 will be available by the end of December in Europe and Asia and in other countries at a later date.
