Today Barclays launched a new version of their iOS app with some new and interesting features that allow you to make payments with your Barclays account through the Siri personal assistant on iOS.

This new version of the iOS app will use the Siri integration for payment apps that Apple added with iOS 10, so you will need iOS 10 in order to use the new feature.

Barclays says that you can use this new feature with a phrase like ‘Hey Siri, pay John Appleseed $10 with Barclays.’ However, you only really need to state the person that you want to pay, the amount that you want to pay them and that you want to pay them with Barclays.

In order to prevent unauthorised payments, Barclays has also integrated some payment protections, however, you will have to opt-in to this feature by visiting the ‘Manage Payments’ segment of the More menu in the app.

It will also only work if you have already paid that person, or if that person in your iPhone’s contacts.

On top of all of that, you will also have to confirm the payment with Touch ID.
