The Beeb have today announced their latest deal with Microsoft, that will allow them to bring its iPlayer catch-up service to Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8, with a shortcut application available “soon” according to the company, which will enable the BBC iPlayer site to work,

Which defiantly isn’t the best way of doing things, with iOS users having their own dedicated application since 2011, other platforms have had to wait to get the same treatment, with Android still waiting on a full feature application.

The BBC have mentioned that once launched it will support more than 650 different device types, all of whom will be able to access the service.
