The BBC has just released its plans to separate their radio service from iPlayer, within its own application. However this announced was completely expected with the leak of “BBC Playlister” just a few days ago, however that leak did get one thing wrong, the name which will be called BBC iPlayer Radio.

The new application will be available on the iTunes App Store from tomorrow, with an Android version following soon after, the new service will allow users to stream any of the BBC’s radio stations live.

Alongside that, users will also be able to play catch up content and even download content for offline listening, which can include video clips.

The app has been designed to give each station its own homepage, all of which can be easily swiped through to the next station, there’s also a pretty cool alarm function, which will allow the app to play your favourite DJ or programme when you wake up.

There’s also some new social integration features that allow the listener to discuss and share content that they are currently playing.
