I love the BBC iPlayer apps, but I have always thought it would be so much better if it had Retina display support, which I can now see for myself as the BBC have just updated the application to do just that.

Alongside Retina support the BBC say the app also comes with better playback and other features to help more people around the world access the app.

One of those features is the new VoiceOver controls which allow users to easily make their way through the apps content.

Alongside that they also announced that they will be keeping all of the Olympic foootage that is currently available on iPlayer up until January 2013.
