Netflix has this week announced that its first original movie will be released later this year, available to stream at some point this October.

Called Beasts of No Nation, the film will be based on the highly acclaimed novel by the Nigerian author, Uzodinma Iweala.

It will then be joined by Adam Sandler’s The Ridiculous Six when it premieres on Netflix on December 11th, 2015, along with the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, which will premiere on Netflix in 2016.

Netflix explains more:

Beasts of No Nation tells the story of a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Newcomer Abraham Attah gives a stunning portrayal of Agu, while Elba dominates the screen in the role of Commandant, a warlord who takes in Agu and instructs him in the ways of war. The film is produced by Amy Kaufman and Cary Fukunaga (who previously worked together on Sin Nombre), Daniela Taplin Lundberg, Riva Marker and Dan Crown for Red Crown Productions, along with Elba. Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King are executive producers for Participant Media and Donna Gigliotti is executive producer for Levantine Films.
