It looks as though the long-running rumors were true, as Beats Electronics has today announced that they will be buying back the remaining 25% share from HTC, said to be for a price of $265 million and bringing an end to their two-year partnership.

This news comes after HTC purchased a 501 percent share in Beats for $300 million and then later agreeing to sell back 25% of its shares on the company’s one-year anniversary.

This is in order to broaden its product lines beyond headphones, now launching speakers, in-car audio systems and soon their own online music streaming service.

HTC have said that it will “continue to partner [with Beats] as future opportunities arise”, however they are staying silent on their reasons for the sale.
