Belkin has today announced a new accessory for both the Mac and the PC called the Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD, which comes with two Thunderbolt ports and a range of connection ports that will allow users to quickly connect devices to their PC or Mac with one cable.

These ports include HDMI, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, audio and extra Thunderbolt 2 ports, allows for up to eight devices to be connected to the dock, and then up to an extra four Thunderbolt devices via a daisy-chain setup.

Once the user plus in a HDMI or Thunderbolt 2 display, Belkin say that the dock can provide a resolution of up to 4K, and the dock can even charge smartphones, tablets or anything else that plugs into the USB 3.0 port even when the host computer is asleep or not connected.

The drive will also provide Thunderbolt 2 data transfer speeds of up to 20GBps.

Melody Tescon, director of product management at Belkin said the following about the new dock:

The Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD will be available from October for £249.99 from Apple Stores, and from other retail locations in November, it will also support Mac OS X 10.9 and later and with Windows 7 or later.
