Today Bang & Olufsen unveiled something that might just amaze both the audio fan and interior decorator in you, the BeoSound Shape, which is a modular and wireless wall-mounted speaker system that has been built to be the centerpiece of your room.

It is made up of a series of hexagonal panels that have been designed to connect to each other but also pump out sound in a clever manner by making sure that the sound is centered no matter where you are in the room by creating a fixed soundstage.

They also connect up to each other via the central hub of the system, the BeoSound Core, which not only ties the system together but also brings various support to the system, including AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth 4.1, and B&O’s BeoLink tech.

It also includes wired inputs for Ethernet and line-in, however, it has been designed to look wireless, that said, there’s no reason why you can’t drill a few more holes in your walls for a wired experience.

Well, we say that but it does also require a lot of money.

The base kit version of the system costs €4,000 or around £3,416 and includes eight tiles in total.

Four of those are speakers, two are sound-absorbing acoustic dampeners, one is an amplifier, and the last is the Core unit.

In total, you can expand that with up to 11 amplifier units, each of which can support four speaker tiles each, allowing for a massive 44 speaker tiles if you go all out.

If you are interested, then you will be happy know that you can pre-order and customise your Bang & Olufsen BeoSound Shape system today from B&O’s website, however, it isn’t expected to ship until August.
