Today Apple announced a huge update to Apple Pay, unveiling a new partnership with a total of 22 UK charities to make pledge donations over iOS, watchOS, or macOS with Apple Pay.
It’s a feature that has existed in the US since last November and allows anyone with an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or an Apple Watch to send a donation with just their fingerprint via the Safari browser.
The charities that you can donate to in the UK include the following:
ActionAid UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Barnardo’s, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Comic Relief, Concern Worldwide (UK), DEC, Marie Curie, Oxfam, (RED), The Royal British Legion, RNIB, RNLI, RSPB, RSPCA, Scope, Sightsavers, Unicef UK, VSO, WaterAid, and WWF-UK.
This is a particularly awesome way of donating because it doesn’t require you to hand over money in person to anyone, fill in any forms, or even have to remember a login.
For now, there are just 22 charities, however, we expect that this list will increase over time, making it easier to donate to many other charities around the UK.
