Canon have a few announcements for us today, the first is the release of a couple of new PowerShot cameras.

Kicking off with the PowerShot SX510 HS, their new camera model features a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 24-720mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 30x optical zoom and a 60x Canon ZoomPlus digital zoom. There’s also a Digic 4 processor included allowing the camera to take full 1080p video, as well as share photos over WiFi.

The SX510 HS will be priced at £290.

And then there’s the PowerShot SX170 IS, which has been priced at £170 and features a 16 megapixel sensor, with a 16x optical zoom, 28-448mm wide-angle lens and Canon’s ZoomPlus software that allows for a 32x digital zoom.

The camera can also take video at 720p.

Both cameras will also feature Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer with intelligent IS technology, as well as a Smart Auto mode which allows for the selection of 32 different scene modes.

There’s also an Eco Mode included, which allows photographers to shoot for longer whilst conserving battery life.

Both of the camera will be available in the UK an Ireland from August 23rd.
