Casio has today announced their latest watch to come with Bluetooth 4.0.

Dubbed the Casio Edifice EQB-500, the watch will launch in the UK in September and will feature a classic design, but still with modern technology in-built including Bluetooth 4.0, allowing the watch to connect to smartphones.

Once connected to a smartphone the watch can automatically keep itself updated with the latest time no matter what time zone the user is in, using the phone to match the local time, and to automatically adjust for summertime.

In order to do this, the watch uses a motor that is 26 per cent smaller than previous models, allowing it to house the extra electronics needed for the Bluetooth connectivity, and to link with Casio’s collaboration with the Red Bull Racing F1 team.

As part of this collaboration, the watch with be worn by a selection of F1 drivers, including Sebastian Vettel and the winner of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Dainel Ricciardo.

The watch will also work with a free iPhone and Android application that contains the time zone details for 300 cities around the world, a number which will increase with future updates.

The app will also allow the watch to remotely set alarms, and receive email notifications.

The Casio Edifice EQB-500 will be available in September from the Casio London store, H Samuel and casioonline.co.uk were it retails for £300.
