Caterpillar have just announced that they will taking on the JCB Toughphone with the release of the Cat B15 rugged phone, which is available to buy today for £299, with a 4 inch display, 1GHz dual-core processor, a 5 megapixel camera and it runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Alongside which you also get that rugged design, to help keep the phone safe in extreme conditions, and is both waterproof and drop proof, allowing the phone to be immersed in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes and dropped from as high as 1.8 metres, and still be safe.

Which places the B15 quite high when compared to JCB’s Touchphone Pro-Smart which only features a single core 800MHz processor and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, costing around the same.
