Earlier today GoPro released a 360-degree video that was recorded with its new Omni virtual reality camera rig.

The video lasts 4-minutes and shows the first look at what the Ombi VR rig can do, however, Gopro has warned that as it was recorded using a prototype Omni unit, the footage may be somewhat different to the end result.

GoPro explained the video with the following:

“Shot on the backdrop of gorgeous Serfaus – Fiss – Ladis in the Tyrolean Alps of Austria, the GoPro Media team showcases Omni, GoPro’s newest 6-camera spherical array. Jesper Tjader, Halldor Helgason, and friends take to the Suzuki Nine Queens course to demonstrate what Omni has to offer.”

The Omni is expected to begin shipping later this year after GoPro originally talk pre-orders for it last month.

They are asking $5,000 for the unit which includes the frame, a total of six Hero 4 Black cameras and the software.

However, you can just buy the frame by itself for $1,500. GoPro has also made a more expensive version with Google, which features 16 GoPro cameras and costs $15,000.
