Currys and PC World has today announced that they will now allow for software to be downloaded via their online stores, allowing the user to simply chose the items they want, add them to their basket, pay for them and then simply download them.

Software will be available from most major brands including Microsoft, Adobe and McAfee. All software will also be re-downloadable, available via the downloads page on the users account.

All eligible software is now listed on both sites and are tagged as “available for download”.

Mark Slater, computing director for Currys and PC World said the following about the introduction:

“We are excited to be offering our customers the ability to buy and instantly use computer software where and when they need it, with the popularity of smaller, lighter laptops and tablets, as well as more and more PCs being sold without disc drives, this development is firmly in line with the trend towards convenient, downloadable content as and when people need it.”
