[Original Story] Yager has just been backed out of the development of the upcoming Dead Island 2, giving reason to why the game didn’t appear at this year’s E3 conference.
Dead Silver has released a statement about the situation, stating that despite Yager leaving the development they will continue to work on Dead Island 2 without the development team.
With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.
This is a huge set back for the game, with many hoping that Yager would bring some of the skills they developed from their previous game Spec Ops: The Line, however that will no longer be the case of course.
We don’t know the reason why Yager was dropped from the development of the game, however the chances are that they are too busy with their own aerial combat game called Dreadnought.
We don’t know if this will affect the date of when Dead Island 2 will be released, however since it has already been pushed back to 2106, its likely that many won’t notice.
