The creative consultancy Map today announced that they have collaborated with a London based start-up named Ding.

They partnered with each other yo redesign the doorbell to create something that is simpler, smarter and much more stylish. The project is looking to raise $50,000 on the crowdfunding website in order to bring this project into reality.

They designed the Ding to create a “sleek and subtile doorbell” that brings the doorbell’s functionality into the 21st century by linking it to your smart devices.

When a visitor to your home press the button on the doorbell, the Chime element will ring in your home and then connect up to the Ding companion app on your smartphone, from there you can talk to the person at your front door from anywhere in the world.

That last part is particularly interesting as it means you can still answer the door, even when on holiday.
