The drone manufacturer DJI has this week announced that they will be launched a new insurance plan to cover the cost of your DJI aircraft, gimbal, or camera, should an accident happen in normal use.

With the new service plan dubbed DJI Care, DJI will cover the costs of repair fees or related costs should an accident happen.

They will only cover damage should the drone be dropped, squeezed or crashed that is caused by the operator due to error, or other accidents. It will not cover accessories such as the remote controller, propeller, battery or charger.

The plan is also only available for the Inspire 1 C2.0, the X3 gimbal camera and the Phantom 3 series.

They say there’s no limit on the repairs a user can claim, but the total cost cannot go past the coverage amount.

For all that you will need to pay from $99 for a 6-month plan Phantom 3 Standard plan, but this can go all the way up to $699 depending on the drone and length of coverage, and all plans will be linked to your drone’s serial number.
