Drobo have today announced the release of their updated NAS drive, the Drobo 5N which provides an increased performance along with data protection enhancements for both professional and normal users.

The new Drobo 5N now includes Drobo’s patented BeyondRAID and Data-Aware Tiering technology which will help deliver better capacity, performance and data protection, all of which is automatic.

Alongside that the Drobo 5N also uses high-performance flash SSD technology to accelerate performance, providing optimum speed when uses programs such as Adobe Lightroom or iTunes.

All of this data will also be protected in the event of a power failure or interruption, and the 5N will support both Mac and Windows-based systems.

The 5N includes five storage bays, each of which can hold one standard 3.5 inch SATA hard disk drive or SSD drive, however it does have a maximum capacity of 20 Terabytes when configured with 4TB drives.

Prices will start at $599 from leading online stores, marketers and resellers worldwide.
