One of the first HomeKit has been unveiled this week, called the ecobee3, the Siri controlled HomeKit Thermostat is now available to purchase for $249.

The launch comes after the original launch of the exobee3 thermostat, which was launched in September of last year and has since been upgraded with new support for Apple’s HomeKit technology.

It will also support Siri for controlling the thermostat using voice.

The ecobee3 HomeKit thermostat is also equipped with a 3.5 inch touchscreen full-colour LCD display, featuring a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

Ordinary thermostats read the temperature in only one room, but are supposed to deliver comfort in all rooms. ecobee3 remote sensors deliver the right temperature in the rooms that matter most. Intuitively understands when to turn on your heating or cooling equipment based on your home’s unique energy profile and the weather outside, making sure you’re comfortable at all times.

The Smart thermostat will also use WiFi to connect to the user’s tablet, smartphone or computer and control it from that device, and it will also work automatically in order to turn on your heating or cooling equipment based on your home’s unique energy profile and the weather outside and it will also sense “whether anyone’s home and which rooms are occupied, delivering comfort when you’re at home and saving you energy and money when you’re not.”

In fact ecobee says that it will save “homeowners an average of 23% annually”.
