Over the last few months we have reviewed a number of Edifier speakers, and today we are going to review yet another. Called the Edifier R2730DB, it is a multimedia speaker that allows you to play audio from a range of different sources, including Bluetooth.
But don’t think that because it has Bluetooth that it is also portable because this particular speaker is far from that. Sized at 20 x 22 x 39cm, the speakers are quite heavy, but that is mainly due to what you will find inside, however, it is unlikely that you need this sort of power outside of your home.
Featuring a wooden box design, inside of both of the speakers you will find a 6.5-inch bass driver, a 4-inch mid-range driver, and finally a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter treble driver.
When combined, all of these drivers are capable of delivering a total of up to 136W RMS, with RMS 14W x 2 from the Treble, 14W x 2 from the mid-range and 40W x 2 from the bass.
Around the back of each speaker, you will find a single connection port, this is used to link the two speakers together. On top of this, there’s also an on/off toggle switch, socket connections for not one but two line-in inputs, an optical input, coaxial input and a speaker and sub output.
On the side, there’s a number of controls for adjusting the treble, bass and master volume of the system, which are adjustable by turning the corresponding knob.
At the bottom of this right-hand panel, there’s also an indicator light which will emit a different colour to show which input you have selected.
You can control this via the included remote control. This remote is very small, but still features a total of nine buttons for switching between inputs, controlling the volume and both muting and controlling the power.
This makes it easy to switch between input sources.
All in all, the Edifier R2730DB is a great 2.0 multimedia speaker, it’s loud and full of both bass and treble response, with great mids, lows, and highs, however, for some it may be a bit too loud and a bit too big, so before you do pick it up you should note that it may annoy your neighbours and it is going to take up a lot of space.
If that isn’t much of a problem for you, then we would definitely recommend picking this speaker set up, it’s priced at around £200 and you can find out more about it on Edifier’s website here.
