EE have today announced that they will be doubling the amount of the 1800MHz spectrum that it currently uses for its 4G network, which means that they are basically doubling the speeds of 4G services.

This new doubled speed will be available to those in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield by summer, all of which will get speed of 80Mbps according the EE, who claim to have reached as much as 130Mbps during their tests.

However they are yet to announce what they are planning to do with the spectrum they purchase during OfCom’s 4G auction, something which we hope to hear more for soon.
