Eizo has today announced that they are now the world’s first company to release a monitor that features a 240Hz refresh rate. Dubbed the Eizo Foris FG2421, the new monitor doubles the traditional 120Hz refresh rate using new Turbo 240 technology, allowing Eizo to increase the refresh rate by controlling the blinking of the LED backlight.

Alongside this, the display also has a refresh time of 1 ms, with a Vertical Alignment LCD panel that has a 176 degree viewing angle with a native contrast ratio of 5000:1 and a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, making it one of the clearest and sharpest monitors available.

Because of this high contrast ratio and refresh rate, the FG2421 is aimed primarily at gamers as it can increase visibility in dark scenes, as well as cut down any possible lag.

There’s also two-preset modes included, designed for first-person shooters and real-time strategy games.

The display is available from today for a current unknown price.
