Evernote announced today, that they were the victim of a hacking attempt, which did not result in users notes or content being accessed, or their payment information, but they hackers were able to access usernames, email address associated to Evernote accounts and their encrypted passwords.

As a precaution, Evernote have today forced a reset of all user passwords.

However they have said that they think passwords may still be safe enough, but has decided to take caution on the matter:

“We take our responsibility to keep your data safe very seriously, and we’re constantly enhancing the security of our service infrastructure to protect Evernote and your content,” the company said in a blog post.

“We apologize for the annoyance of having to change your password, but, ultimately, we believe this simple step will result in a more secure Evernote experience.”
