Gradually Apple has become a lot more social, starting with the release of their own social network called Ping a couple of years ago, and even more recently the addition of Twitter in iOS 5, but adding Twitter to iOS has left Apple device users updating their statuses through Facebook’s app, forcing Facebook to release their own app for posting photos onto your profile.

But according to a report from TechCrunch, the integration of Facebook in iOS is not to far away, and have stated it will happen in “the latest version of iOS.” but that’s about it as far as the report goes, so where not to sure where TechCrunch have got this from or even if it’s true but they did say this:

After much speculation, Facebook integration will indeed be baked into the latest version of iOS, we’ve learned…It’s important to note that Apple being Apple, something could change in the next week and a half (see again: Facebook/Ping). But as of now, Facebook is a go in iOS “Sundance”. One thing still being hammered out according to our sources is exactly how sharing will work. Sharing is the other big part of the iOS/Twitter integration, and will be important for iOS/Facebook integration as well.

I cannot see any reason why Apple would not integrate this into iOS, but if you look back at the iOS 4 beta there was already evidence within the OS which suggested Facebook integration but never actually turned up, and was removed from the files before its final release, which could show that Apple has had some disagreements with Facebook in the past.

What do you think? Will Apple ever integrate Facebook in iOS? Will it be there for iOS 6?
