Facebook have today updated their iOS application with a set of new features and bug fixes, that brings the ability to make free voice calls over Wi-Fi and 3G for users in the US and Canada, a feature which was first debuted for their Facebook Messenger application earlier this year.

The feature can be accessed via the message section of the app, and a call can be imitated by tapping the new Y button, placed in the top-right corner, all they have to do after which is select the user they want to call.

The user will then decide via a push notifications to either accept or reject the call.

Within the app there’s also new buttons for liking, commenting and sharing posts as well as a new share button for reposting status’.

The updated app brings Facebook for iOS to version 5.5, available to download for free from the app store today.
