Facebook has today launched a new application on the App Store that is aimed solely at celebrities and other influencers.

Called Facebook Mentions, the aim of the app is to allow celebrities and other well-followed figures to find posts that mention them and then allow them to participate in the conversation.

Alongside that, the app will also allow users to host live Q&A sessions via Facebook, and even post status updates, photos and videos right from the app.

At the moment you need to have a verified public figure account in order to use the application, but Facebook has said that the Mentions app will be rolled out to the public at some point in the future.

Facebook also mentioned that celebs who are already testing the app have ended up using Facebook twice as much as before.

At the moment the Facebook Mentions app is free to all of those who can access it.
