HGST has today unveiled some new products during the BVE Expo in the UK this week, adding to their already existing G-Technology range.

These new products are the new G_RAID systems that allow users to enclose dual 7200 rpm enterprise-class RAID hard drives on an aluminium case with quiet-cooling fans, allowing for storage of up to 16TB.

The drives will also feature connections for USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 2. alongside multi-stream HD support, 2K and compressed 4K workloads and much more.

The new G-RAID enclosure will begin shipping next month priced at $599.95 for the 8TB model, $99.95 for the 12TB model or $1,295 for the top-tiered 16TB model.

Both of the drives will also be removable, allowing the user to upgrade the individual drives as and when they please.

Alongside the announcement of the enclosure, HGST also unveiled the G-DRIVE ATC with Thunderbolt, the G-DRIVE ev ATC with USB 3.0 and the G-DRIVE ev RaW. All of which are portable drives that are shock-resistant and can sustain a 2m metre drop, and can even float when dropped in water thanks to a watertight compartment for the actual drive.
