Garmin has today announced the update of their iPhone navigation apps to add public transportation features, alongside Apple Maps integration and support for the iPhone 5.

The apps include the Navigon and StreetPilot Onboard which now allows for route calculations in areas where their coverage problems, alongside there’s new premium features that range from comprehensive lane guidance, speed limits and safety camera warnings, exit services, parking info, a trip planner and a multi-route display.

Alongside the premium features the apps now fully utilise the new 4 inch display of the iPhone 5, which makes maps so much easier to view whilst driving, there’s also new routes for public transportation, which include trains, trams, busses and water taxis for pedestrian routes,  there’s also a new feature named the “Last Mile” function which automatically saves the location of the user’s car when on foot.

The StreetPilot Onboard app for the iPhone now also includes features included Google Street View and Panorama View 3D as an in app purchase.
