A new smartphone was revealed earlier this month called the Gionee Elife S5.1, measuring just 5.15mm thick and featuring a 4 inch AMOLED display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, it has now been confirmed to be the world’s thinnest smartphone by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The organisation confirmed the news earlier today.

In terms of other specs the Elife S5.1 also has a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

On the back there’s also a 8 megapixel camera, and on the from you will find a 5 megapixel shooter that should work well for all those selfies.

Inside there’s also a 2,100 mAh battery, and all of it will run on Google’s Android 4.3 mobile OS, alongside Gionee’s Amigo 2.0 UI on top.

To start off with, the Gionee Elife S5.1 will be available in China, after which no further worldwide pricing or availability has been announced. But we will be sure to let you know if we hear anything as always.
