Today Google announced another acquisition.

This latest acquisition is the buyout of Urban Engines, who are a company that analyses city traffic in order to help people get around easier.

It’s obvious how this could fit into Google, particularly within their Google Maps application.

Urban Engines explained more about it in their announcement post:

“Location analytics is an important focus for both Urban Engines and Google, and we’re excited to combine forces to help organizations better understand how the world moves.”

That said, we don’t yet know what Google will be doing exactly and you probably won’t notice when they Google do something.

They also didn’t reveal any information on the amount that they acquired Urban Engines for.
