As part of their one year birthday celebration, Google have today announced that they will be hosting a week of free and discounted apps, music and books from the Google Play Store, well at least for those living in the US anyway.

Leaving users in other countries to pay the normal price, which is quite annoying considering the rumours of the pilot episode of Breaking Bad being free as well as The Velvet Underground’s Sweet Jane and even the eBook version of Morgan Rice’s  A Quest of Heroes with more being added over the course of this week.

For the UK, users have only seen a tiny discount for Madonna’s Celebration album.

Hopefully Google will step up their UK game however and bring us some of those freebies.
