Lets face it not a lot of people like advertising on websites despite it being the main reason most free to access websites like our own are able to survive. This has led to an increase in adblocking software use over the last few years with nothing to really support websites whilst still supporting the site you are viewing.
However Google think they have the answer with a newly announced idea called Google Contributor, which is a new system that will allow users to hide ads for a monthly fee, meaning that they can bot miss out on advertising, but still support the sites they love.
To see Contributor partner sites without advertising users simply donate between $1 and $3 a month, which will then go to the participating site in question.
As of yet however it’s unclear if Google will take cut of this, or much that cut might be, however its likely the will.
As of yet there are only a few partners for the program that have been announced, these include Mashable, The Onion, Science Daily, Imgur, WikiHow, and Urban Dictionary. Despite this Google say that these only represent a few parnter sites.
Those who are interested in joining as a contributor can however join the watch list, and those who wish to be selected as a partner site can email the company now.
Once enabled a partnered site will show thank messages or pixel patterns instead of advertisements.
