As most of you probably expected the new Google Maps application is actually quite popular with over 10 million downloads in the first 48 hours of it being live, which was announced an Google’s Senior Vice President of Commerce Google+ page where he congratulated the Maps team for the lunch alongside the seven years the team have worked on the iOS versions of their Maps application.

Of course this all means the app has taken its place as the top downloaded app, a spot it has held for 6 days now, which is pretty impressive for the app store, and with nearly 5,000 reviews averaging out at 4.5 stars, it seems the Apple community likes it too.

I wonder if this makes Apple feel a little stupid inside.
