As Android is an open system, just about anything within the phone’s software can be changed, and that includes the keyboard, something a lot of people like as it means they can just swap out things they don’t like with features they do.

Well that’s what Google are betting on anyway, releasing their own Google Keyboard app that will add the same keyboard featured on the Nexus phone to any Android handset.

Available to download for free from the Google Play Store, the keyboard features all the same things you would expect o the Nexus, including gesture typing, auto correction, word prediction, voice recognition and a selection of keyboard layouts.

Google Keyboard is ready to download today, however you will need a device running Android 4.0 and up and be living in an English-speaking country for now, although they will be updating the app to support more countries soon.
