For years people have found themselves using Google Maps to navigate around a variant of places, and since the release of the smartphone this just became even more widespread allowing us to find where we are when we are completely lost.

But with Google’s next 6.0 update they are planning to map the inside of stores instead of just the outside, meaning you’ll never get lost in IKEA’s children section again, (we have all done it at some point). The new update will show detailed layouts of the store you are in including all of their aisles and how to get there.

Currently this technology will only be available in a selected number of retailers and airports within the US and Japan, but Google have said they will be expanding the service further around the world. But if you live in the US or Japan and want to try it out you can do by updating now from the Android Market.
