One of the biggest problems with maps applications, is that there’s not much information held for the non-road user, however Google have done their useual stuff however and rolled out a new update for their Google Maps that will add public transportation schedules for over 500 cities around the world.

The new update will allow you to check stops and departure times for buses, trains, trams or the subway/ underground, with over 1 million public transportation stops and departure times are now available.

Also added is a new My Places functionality, which allows you to easily access your saved maps, and can even allow you to browse through the locations you go to on a daily basis.

The update has been rolled out on Android today but will hopefully launch on iOS as soon as Google creates their own application on the iTunes App Store for Maps.
