Upon updating their Mac and Windows build of Google Canary, Google today unveiled a new feature for the developer browser that brings Google Now cards and notifications to the desktop, allowing users to see alerts for things like the weather, sports, traffic, travel times, reminders and more.

The desktop version will also allow you to view notifications from Google services such as Gmail and Google+.

To try the new feature out, download the build of Google Canary and then enter chrome://flags/#enable-google-now into the address bar, select enable Google Now and then click to restart browser, you should probably note that this is developer software, so it might not work to great, but it’s likely that the feature will make its way to the normal Chrome browser just as soon as Google thinks it is ready.
