Google has today launched Google Play Newsstand on iOS, replacing the previous Google Currents app by merging the features from both Google Play Magazines and Google Currents into a single app.

From the app users can subscribe to a range of free and paid subscriptions to magazines, web feeds and various other news sources, in fact Google says that there is hundreds of options available.

The app will then allow the user to read these formated articles from their mobile device, and even view images, audio and video inline. There’s also a new navigation bar in the app, and users can also create their own library of subscriptions to access topics that they are most interested in.

Users can also bookmark articles to read them later, or store them in their device’s cache so that they can read them offline, meaning that users can quickly gain access to the latest stories anywhere, well as long as their within one of countries where the app is available, which includes the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, and Spain.

Those who currently use Currents will get a notice to update to Newsstand in order to get all these new features.
