Since it was announced Google’s update to their Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich has been very highly anticipated, but thankfully the wait is finally over according to Google’s former CEO, Eric Schmidt the new OS will be released in October or November this year.

Ice Cream Sandwich will basically combine the elements within the current Gingerbread smartphone OS and the Honeycomb tablet OS in order to create one unified OS for all Android devices, Schmidt explained the new update further in a recent interview:

“We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about,” he said.

Personally, I cannot wait for the new Ice Cream Sandwich update, as I think it will unify all of the Andriod devices making it easier to switch from an Android powered smartphone to a tablet.

What do you think? Have you been waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich? Are you looking forward to getting your hand on the new OS?
