[Update] The rumors were true, Google launched their new iOS app, check out this post for more information.

According to sources speaking to AllThingsD Google may be coming to save us from the dreaded use of Apple’s own mapping application for iOS, with sources claiming that the company will be releasing the app as soon as tonight.

There’s no official details yet, but I can imagine a lot of people would be excited to see the app within the iTunes App Store tomorrow morning after the number of cases of people getting lost or even left in some random Australian forest with no idea where they are.

And that’s only a few stories.

When Apple first ditched the app in iOS 6 in favor for their own, reports come in after Google’s refusal to offer turn-by-turn navigation amongst other features with the iOS app, forcing Apple to create their own.

If we hear anything official or see the update available we will update this post asap.
