When they were first announced, Google revealed a big advantage about their Pixel smartphones.

Because they are made by Google, they promised a lengthy support time that will mean that you get the latest security and Android version updates for the smartphone well after you first purchased it.

But they didn’t reveal an exact date for the end of this support, until this week.

Google recently updated their support page to reveal this news, noting that the current Pixel smartphones will receive Android version updates until October of next year, and the important security updates until October 2019, which should be more than long enough to keep the smartphone useable for the next couple of years.

However, as you can see in the table above, these are simply the guaranteed and minimum updates period, which could mean that the current Pixel smartphones may be updated well after this time.

The question of such support would be in whether or not the smartphones support updates after that date.
