Grand Theft Auto V is already one of the best regarded games in history, receiving a 98 out of 100 on Metacritic the game has literally become one of the biggest selling games overnight, making more than $800 million (around £497 million) in its first 24 hours of being on the shelf.

Launching for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17th, Take-Teo Interactive say the game has had the “highest first day retail sales of any title in the history of the company”, and most likely in the history in games.

Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities has already predicted that the game could sell 14 million copies by the end of September, resulting in a $900 million take from sales, but with the game already receiving $800 it’s likely that will be surpassed.

Already taking the record from the previous holder, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which sold $500 million in its first 24 hours, the game has even beaten some of the most respected films from around the world.
