Microsoft previewed its first trailer for the Halo: Nightfall live-action series at Sand Diego Comic Con 2014, showing off the first look at Ridley Scott’s series that will be based on the Halo game series.

In the series Mike Colter will play the character of Jameson Locke, who will play a large role in the upcoming game, Halo 5: Guardians, which is said to launch sometime next fall.

During the Halo panel 343 Industries also confirmed that Locke will be playable character in Guardians, however they did not mention how exactly he would be featured.

Getting back to Halo: Nightfall, the series will be set on a colonial world, where the colonists have discovered a fragment of the Halo ring from the first game, which still remains partially functional, and will supposedly become an “almost dark and malevolent” part of the series.

The series will also explore political tensions between the backwater colony, which will then lead on to further events of the game.

Halo: Nightfall will be available to all Xbox Live users on November 11th, and as a package in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
