After a few teasers, we have finally received the first trailer for Lightning McQueen’s return in the Cars 3 film.

As a sequel to the previous two games, Cars 3 follows on from the previous events from the Cars film series. McQueen in now an ageing athlete who has to compete against new, up and coming racers in order to stay relevant.

In order to renew his competitive spirit, McQueen’s crew has hired the help of Cruz Ramirez, who will help him to beat the latest high-tech racer, Jackson Storm.

The director of the film, Brian Fee explained more:

“McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”

Cars 3 will be shown in theatres worldwide from June 16th, 2017 but before then you can check out that new trailer below.
