Probably one of the biggest releases you should be looking forward to this year is the release of the third and final instalment of The Hobbit. Set to be released on December 13th, 2014 in the UK and December 17th, 2014 in the US, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is sure to be one of the biggest movie releases for the entire year.

This is despite the fact that we haven’t seen too much of the film up to now.

Thankfully we do now have a trailer for the game that was released earlier today to give viewers a view of what to expect from the film.

Following on from An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug which both launched in 2012 and 2013 respectively, the Battle of the Five Armies is based on The Hobbit book written by J.R.R. Tolkien, directed by Peter Jackson and written by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Guillermo del Toro.

It will also star Martin Freeman, Ian Holm, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Ian McKellen Richard Armitage and Benedict Cumberbatch as some of the story’s main characters.

Here’s a brief expansion of the film to give you some more information:

“Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, and his Company of Dwarves have unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his wrath down upon the men, women, and children of Lake-town. Meanwhile, unseen by almost everyone but the wizard Gandalf, the enemy Sauron has returned to Middle-Earth and has sent forth legions of Orcs in an attack upon the Lonely Mountain.”

However you won’t know too much more than that until the film releases, so in the meantime you can check out the trailer above.
