Advertising is a key technique that is used in order to make sites like our own profitable, but with the introduction of ad blocking software, we lose a lot of this profit, which means that we cannot run this site as we would like to, and due to this you will see more sponsored articles, affiliate links and “deals” pages on our site and many other sites, is this a web that you want?
We completely understand the reasons that someone might use this software, ads, in general, can be annoying, they sometimes use your data for things you might not know about, they can track you from site to site, and can even access your personal information.
However we are not asking you to completely disable your ad blocking software, just whitelist the sites you love and that you think deserve your love back.
We promise that we will never show you any annoying ads on our pages, we will also never show ads that block out content, and we always stick to the rule of having no more than 5 advertisements on a single page. Alongside this, we would also like to note that you can completely disable tracking of these ad servers, just scroll down to the bottom of this document and follow the instructions to change settings on your browser, and to find the links for the opt-out pages on all the networks we use (well all that have an opt-out page anyway).
The majority of our advertisements are in the spots you see a whitelist message now, and will never include pop-ups, full page advertisements or auto-play videos.
If that sounds okay to you please follow these instructions to whitelist TechNutty. At least give it a try, you can always switch back if you are displeased.
Whitelisting a site on AdBlock Plus is extremely easy, simply click the ABP icon on your browser when on TechNutty and then hit “Enabled on this site”. If you on the Safari version of AdBlock, or an older version simply click “Don’t run on pages on this domain” and then click “Exclude” when the window pops up.
And then you’re done, simply reload the page and our ads should start appearing once more.
To whitelist a site on the normal AdBlock, simply click the settings icon on your browser, choose extensions, click on the options buttons next to AdBlock, scroll down and input technutty.co.uk in the “Don’t run AdBlock on domains that end with…”
If you do use technologies like this, there are a number of ways you can whitelist TechNutty and our ads to enable script on our pages.
For this example, we are using the Chrome extension “ScriptSafe”
For ScriptSafe, all you need to do is click on the ScriptSafe icon on your browser and hit both the “Allow” and “Trust” buttons.
To get ads in this program you will also need to whitelist some URLs, to do so click the options button, and scroll down the options until you find the whitelist section. You need to type in a few domains here for our ads to show, these include:
doubleclick.net— This is the domain which shows advertising that we have set up personally, and is run by Google.
googlesyndication.com – This is the domain for ads that are shown via AdSense, this is again run by Google.
unrulymedia.com – This is the domain which shows our video advertisements, run by Unruly Media.
Opting out of tracking.
If the tracking from advertisers is the main reason you use Adblock then there are a number of ways you can opt out, and still show ads.
Here are some screenshots from the various browsers that show the settings for each (some of these may be different depending on the version you are using):
You can also opt out of tracking from various individual networks by heading over to the following pages:
