Currently, HTC mostly uses an Andriod OS with their own user interface overlay but have now confirmed they are looking into buying their own mobile OS system helping them differentiate itself from the market. According the  Economic Observer of China, Cher Wang said that they are talking it’s time to find alternatives to the Android and Windows Phone OS’s:

“We have given it thought and we have discussed it internally, but we will not do it on impulse,” said Wang.

“We can use any OS we want. We are able to make things different from our rivals on the second or third layer of a platform. Our strength lies in understanding an OS, but it does not mean that we have to produce an OS.”

Cher Wang refers to ‘layers’ in his statement which means their current user interface, that they place on top, which they have called HTC Sense which covers a completely different interface to that in rival systems, which are Samsung’s TouchWiz and Android’s stock UI.

It could be very likely that with HP possibly selling their webOS system, it could make a perfect purchase for HTC to extend their OS creation desires.

What do you think? Will HTC buy HP’s webOS to create their own operating system?
